Another Day In Paradise

Another Day In Paradise

By
Nathan Caleb Camerer

I know you, but sometimes it feels like we’ve never met
You are a stranger
I am with you, but sometimes I don’t know your name
You are a stranger
I know I’m dreaming, but it feels like more than that sometimes
Sometimes it feels like a nightmare
Sometimes it feels like a memory
How can that be?
I’m haunted by dreams
There are questions I ask that you don’t
There are things I wonder about that you won’t
How are you doing this morning?
Isn’t it lovely?
A good day to cuddle
Another day in paradise
Just another day in paradise
You make me curious
I look in old books for answers,
But it only brings back old memories
What do you want to get out of me?
Do you want anything from me?
I try and wipe my memories to protect myself,
But they survive
My precious memories
Would you meet me if I asked you to?
I’ll take you to the top of the world and I’ll show you the future
If only that were true
There are things you need to know
There are things I need to know
There are things I don’t want to know
I don’t want to know what you have done since I left,
But I’ll ask anyway
I’ll blame myself for this
Sometimes, things go wrong
It’s tragic
You are a wonderful person
I’m not “him”
I’m not the “him” you need
I’m not the “him” you want
I know that, but I’ve loved you for as long as I can remember
I don’t know how else to say it
When this is all over I will build you a house
I’ll build it near a lake with a meadow
We will grow old and fat together
We will fight
We will drink too much
It’ll be romantic
Then we will die
We will buried in the meadow by the lake
The world will forget about us,
But we will always have each other
I remember because of my memories
Memories of us
Memories of you
Good morning
I wanted to spend the rest of my life here with you
I still can,
But you have to go
Dream of us
Another day in paradise
When you dream, dream of us
How can a man die better?
Everybody dies
The thing is to die well
The thing is to not die alone
Do I come to you at night in your dreams?
Do I come to you in the day as memories?
Do I haunt your hours the way you haunt mine?
I wonder if you see me when you look in his eyes
If we have souls, then they are made of the love we shared
Undimmed by time
Unbound by death
Another day in paradise
Just another day in paradise
