Impulsive

Impulsive

By

Hi
What’s your name?
That’s a tremendous name
I saw you from across the room
I have one simple impulsive question to ask you
Are you in love?
If you are in love at this present time
I won’t waste your time
I’m not a homewrecker
If you are not in love at this present time
I’ll continue
You are a brass ring
It worked back in the day
Now, I rarely try
You never answered my question
Are you in love?
You are with that young man over there?
Is his name Chet?
He has a very endearing game show host quality about him
Is he crazy about you because he should be
You glide
It’s very attractive
Most women just plod along
You glide
Does he make you thump?
Do you think about him all the time?
When you think about him,
You can’t eat,
You can’t sleep
When he smiles
Well, when he smiles,
You forgot all the ugliness in the world
Girls who glide,
Need a guy who makes them thump
Give me your number and have dinner with me
It’s been a good day
It’s a beautiful night
You’re a beautiful woman
Have dinner with me
I don’t guarantee complete satisfaction,
But I do the best that I can
I will die trying to make you thump
If we’re lucky,
You may indeed regret it
Only because it took soo long for me to find you
I’m a ghost
I’m the ghost of things to come
You’re the angel who’s going to bring me back
Bring me back to living in the present
You are going to take my heart,
And never return it
I am a saint
I don’t kiss on the first date
I won’t come inside
It doesn’t matter how bad I want to
Rules are rules
Sad but true
I could look at you forever
The way you are right now
I wouldn’t need to do anything else
I’m amazed by you
I’ll kiss your hand
I’ll tell you goodnight
This was impulsive
I couldn’t resist

Dream a Little Dream

Dream a Little Dream

By
Nathan Caleb Camerer

I have a dream
Not a Martin Luther King kind of dream
I don’t want to be assassinated
It’s a “Raising Arizona” kind of dream
There’s no baby snatching
There’s no leather clad, Harley riding bounty hunter
There’s no escaped convicts
It’s you and I
We sit at a table
The table begins to grow
The distance between us gets greater
Not because we are drifting apart
Because of the love between us
Love in the shape of children
Children who give us grandchildren
Grandchildren who give us great-grandchildren
Our shapes begin to change
The time that passes is written on our face
The table has grown a mile long
The love between us that immense
I can still see your eyes
Even across all this mahogany
The fire for each other stills burn bright
Then you’re gone
Laid to rest
Then we are together again
Reliving all the good times for eternity
Welcoming each one of our offspring as they slowly join us
I had a dream
Just last night
I had been driving forever
I finally reach my destination
Dirty and tired and hungry
You ask me what I’m doing there
I come baring gifts for your little monkey
I explain how I drove like a banshee
Wanting to deliver the birthday presents on time
You seem genuinely happy to see me
Introductions all around to a hundred unfamiliar faces
The new me is polite but protective
More adults than children
Copious drinking
A handful of bars within spitting distance of the backyard
Your behavior becomes restrained
An unknown and unseen force is holding you back
The feeling that something is wrong
It’s crushing me
Inarticulate speech
Slow movement
Realization that this is a dream
I must wake up
Daylight comes
The dream is over
I have a dream
I’m the male version of Maria
I’m riding a train
The trains destination is unknown
Every stop represents another year, another birthday
Some are bright and cheery
Crowded with people
Some are dark and dreary
Deserted
The time spent between platforms is endless searching
Walking up and down the train
Jumping from car to car
Searching for someone
I don’t know who it is that I’m looking for
I must find them before the last stop
A new platform is fast approaching
Will it be full of life?
Will it be as quiet as a windless and moonless night?
Will I find who I’m looking for?
Can my dreams come true?
Do you have dreams?
All I have are dreams
Tread softly
For you tread on my dreams

Sleepwalk

Sleepwalk

By

Insomnia
You cruel bedfellow
You strange mistress
I think I have those wrong
My mind just ain’t what it used to be
Flashbacks of you
Flash forwards of a fool
I’m sleepwalking thru my days
Dazed and confused
What day is this?
What month are we in?
Am I coming or going?
Are you coming or going?
Flashbacks of you
Flash forwards of a fool
I’m sleepwalking thru my life
Dazed and confused
This ocean of chaos is taking it’s toll
I’m frozen in place
My lips have turned blue
Standing in an oasis
In the middle of the desert
With cottonmouth because I can’t drink the water
These flashbacks of you
These flash forwards of a fool
They have me sleepwalking thru my days
Dazed and confused
Fantasy and reality
Dreams and nightmares
Interwoven into one long trip
The end is in sight though
Flashbacks of you
Flash forwards of a fool
I won’t sleepwalk thru life
This daze and confusion will pass
The end is near

Sleep is coming
