I Don't Know

I Don’t Know

By
Nathan Caleb Camerer

I see a smile
It sits on the boom half of a beautiful face
Distracting from deep brown eyes
What’s your name?
Cat has my tongue
Surrounded by familiar faces
A door is opened
I trip over my own feet
Feeling ashamed
Overthrown by your beauty
Grasping at strings
Trying to find a way to get your attention
Failing miserably
Time is running out
Opportunity knocks
Slipping from my grasp
I can’t hold your attention
I slink away
Beaten by my own mind
Hoping for a second chance
Another random encounter
It’ll probably never happen
I hope it does
Maybe
Will you see me?
Can you say my name?
Only time will tell

Don't Tell Me

Don’t Tell Me

By

Wait, wait don’t tell me
That right has been forfeited
What am I holding on to?
Nothing
Zilch
Nadda
You can’t tell me to let go
Those words fall on deaf ears
The quiet hours before the sun sets
And before the sun rises
Those are the hardest
It makes me laugh with tears in my eyes
You never can tell
The random thoughts and feelings that stay
The random thoughts and feeling that fade
Wait, wait don’t tell me
Your words don’t have the power to travel this far
You can’t tell me to move on
You don’t have the right
Wait, wait don’t tell me
I still care about you
I can’t stop
I won’t stop
Wait, wait don’t tell me
You have someone new
Am I not supposed to be happy for you?
Is that supposed to flip the mythical switch?
Is that the mind eraser?
Wait, wait don’t tell me
