Untitled #10

How I got over you was not easy
I dug my way thru the walls I built
The ones to keep your world out
Cut off a finger
The one that has your fingerprint burned into it
There's not a ring of metal that can cover that
Beat my chest with the nubs left from digging thru those walls
Your world was what I wanted
Too afraid to let someone in
Give it a shot
Gave it a shot
Standing in the rain in my paper shoes and hat
The holes I dug in my walls caused my world to collapse
The weight of yours broke my shoulders
The rain destroyed my hat and shoes
Now it's easy to see where my feet are going
Too easy to see what's on my mind without my hat to hide under
What's on my mind is you
My feet are still going where you are
You should have worn your paper dress
After dancing in my tears I might have truly seen you
Rumors run thru the streets
The interwebs that crisscross the sky
I forgot my rubber boots
I've run out of bug spray to try and fight the spiders falling from the sky
Trying to lift up man hole covers
Dive into the sewers and get my shit together
How I got over you was not easy
I cut off my nose to spite my face
You still called me handsome
But it's not my heartbeat you fall asleep to
My world was not enough
The one that you helped blow down
You huffed and you puffed
And you blew my heart into pieces
Not enough mortar in the world to put me back together again
But I got over you
How I got over you wasn't easy
It's hard to regrow a finger
Naked without a fingerprint on it
Learn to write and feed myself
Walls back up and stronger than ever
That's the plan for now
Hermit mode with crab legs
How I got over you wasn't easy
But I did it

Black Coffee

Bury my face in the pillow
Trying to hide from the birds chirping
Their song riding the sunbeams that break thru my window
Rub the sleep from my eyes
Stop to smell you on my hands
Lick my lips and enjoy the taste of you
Replaying the night before
Remembering the journey my hands took around your world
Hoping to revisit
I can still taste you
And I will again
Giving names to my hands favorite places
Formulating the ingredients to taste you everyday
Like black coffee

Alarm Clock

An alarm goes off
Two feet hit the floor
Rub the empty spot in the bed
Soon to be filled with a warm body for eternity
Always side by side
Fill a cup to start the day
Mine says "Mr."
Look at the one that say "Mrs."
Soon to be filled for you
Two spoonfuls of sugar
Rub the stubble growing
Wash the past off
Clean hands and feet for the future
Picture your hand in mine for eternity
Unzip my birthday suit
All pressed and ready for photos
High fives and shots
Trying to put the butterfly's to sleep
Wash the sweat from my palms
Clean hands for the future
Constricted in my birthday suit
Unprepared for what my eyes see
The future is in my hands
Words spoken that never had the breath behind them before
Eternity is near
My rebirth complete
Reborn as two
High fives and shots
Trying to put these butterfly's to sleep
Float across the room with my future in my hands
Stepping on my two right feet
Carefully remove my birthday suit
Throw back the covers
Feel eternity pressed against me
Filling the empty spot in my bed
Sleep like a stone the first night of the rest of my life
An alarm clock goes off
Two feet hit the floor
Rub the empty spot in my bed
Never to be filled with your body for eternity
I just made you up to hurt myself
And it worked
