Pillow Talk

Pillow Talk

By
Nathan Caleb Camerer

Let’s talk pillows

Pillows are great

They are awesome

I have eight in my bed

All different sizes

It’s like a nest

That I burrow into

Every time I crawl in bed

They all serve a purpose

They all have a reason for being in my bed

My bed that is the perfect size for two

Two people can spoon in my bed

And the cocoon is complete

I have to choose carefully

When picking a “Small Spoon”

Which brings me to you

You were the best “Spooner”

You were the perfect "Small Spoon"

You fit better than any before you

And since you

You’ve been replaced

By a pillow

And it’s a poor substitute

It doesn’t feel the same

Obviously

It smelled like you

For just a little while

But the aroma faded

Unlike the memories of you

And the things we did

In my double bed

Double means two

Now it’s just me

And my pillows

And the one I pretend is you

Hugging the “You” pillow at night

Just makes me dream of you

And they are not like the dreams of you

I had when we were pressed together at night

In my double sized nest

I’m suffering from “Empty Nest Syndrome”

And the only cure

Is my arms around you

Instead of a pillow
