Can’t Stop
By

10,000 miles have
passed
This journey to find
the “me” you wanted me to be
Can you see the tears
on my face?
They aren’t from the
wind and the rain
They’re not from the
cold or the heat
It’s the familiar sound
of the shuffle of your feet,
In this house where I
sleep
Some place you’ve
never been and I’m still sleeping with your ghost
Driving in silence
Still searching for
myself with you
Driving in silence
Every word and beat I
hear on the radio,
Is like an alcohol
drenched paper cut on my heart
Reminding me that
every bloody word I write,
Is written in wasted
emotion
No longer the love
that can save my life like water
Words have become my
enemy
Driving in silence
I can’t stop hearing
words that you spoke
Words of love and
words of hate
Why did you say “yes”?
I can’t stop this
wandering
Looking for my face
in the crowd that surrounds you
Dressed in a way that
will satisfy your heart
Outfitted with all
the proper attributes and accessories
Laying my head on the
cold ground,
Dreading the dawn of
a new day as old and stale as the last one
Driving in silence
I can’t stop
I can’t…
