Girl Pieces (Little Stories)

Girl Pieces (Little Stories)

By
Nathan Caleb Camerer

A ridiculous question gets a frightening answer
A response based on naivety leads to a little story
A story about puppy love
Love in the time of postage stamps and home phones
A summer spent with a roar in our ears and dust in our mouth
Memories engraved on a sliver of metal
Plated in gold a wrapped around my wrist
A little story about a Spring storm and the evening it created
An evening of simple pleasures
A dry change of clothes to keep
Hide and seek with a child who sees the world without seeing
A home cooked meal
The Lizard King singing about people being strange
A little story about this
A little story about that
The girls and women who have and come and gone
Marks and scars on skin and psyche
Pros and cons of lessons learned
The pieces of them I carry with me
Tarnished, threadbare and stained by time
Priceless, unforgettable and vivid
Shaping how I am today
Love me or leave me
Let me be lonely if I can’t be your only
Not regretting and not forgetting
You and all the ones before you made me
So love me or leave me
I’ll tell the little story of you to the next one
The cycle continues…

  2. Aww...thank you!! I kind of built it around those lines. That's kind of how I work.
