Creature of Habit
By

Sitting at a bar
Lonely but not alone
Alone but not lonely
Depends on what you look like
And how many I’ve had
How long have I been thinking about you
About me
About us
About her
About life, liberty and the pursuit of all that other shit
It seems like forever
It’s getting repetitive
But I’m a creature of habit
I can’t help it
I’ve tried
Shut down and go numb
Out of sight
Out of mind
Haunted and heartbroken
Thinking about “what if’s”
And knowing “why”
Half-ass attempts to find another
But the options are few and far between
Leaves me with nothing to put in your place
The hole in my life
I can’t drink enough to fill it
But God knows I try
And I just keep writing about you
The good and the bad
Everything was accepted
Now I’m sitting at a bar
Alone but not lonely
Lonely but not alone
Depends on what you look like
And how many I’ve had
