The Rest of My Heart

The Rest of My Heart

By
Nathan Caleb Camerer

I still have the bracelet you gave me

The one that was shaped like a sword

I think they call them Zany Bands

But I’m not sure

It’s lost its shape over the last year

But I’ve never taken it off

I’ll wear it until it breaks

It reminds me of you

I avoided meeting you

For as long as I could

I knew that if you were anything like your mom

That I would be doomed

That’s exactly what happened

You’re not just a little like her

You are a carbon copy version

Only smaller

Which is deadly

It increases the cuteness

You can be as destructive as a nuclear bomb

When you get angry

Just like your mom

You also have the ability to melt every heart in the room

And make every person feel important

Just like your mom

You’re cute and cuddly

With her aptitude for being creative

You’ll make a great big sister

If that ever happens

I hope it does

And when it does

You and your mom

Will have to share

Your mom has most of my heart

And you have the rest

But a little brother

Or sister

Will have to get some of it too
